Someone asked me if this is a club thing. Yes and no. This is for people who want to listen to new dance music without having to battle clubby stockbroker douchbags. Its as underground as it gets. Most of all this like going to a punk rock club in a basement in Chinatown with an exceptional soundsystem and people who actually care about the new electronic music scene. I don't need to sell you on whether this is cool or not. It is what it is, dirty ass beats in a basement. I happen to think that this is the coolest thing in the world to do and I hope you come out and decide for yourself. Know that you're gonna sweat. And that sweating is way sexier than fronting in the VIP at the megaclub. Free mustaches with every entry. Dress awesome and laugh out loud.
This month its resident Dj Nisus(themovment) on the decks. Nisus has quietly been on the up and out as a formidable proprietor of the filthbass movement emerging out of house music's shallow grave. Hes got the bounce tracks needed to bring down the walls and keep you in an estatic epileptic fit last seen in the mosh pit of a Pantera concert.
Just added to this month's lineup is Mr. Projectile. He opened for
Plaid at the Mezzanine and blasted the house system to pieces. As
If the Lipo Lounge isnt surreal enough Mr Projectile's sound design
will push it over the edge. His dreamy and complex rythmns are
spacially tied to a wicked 303 that he hand built himself. The dude
is pretty much a legend and when he drops the bass it feels unreal.
You'll want to get there early and not miss a second.
OMGLOL sums it up. We are committed to becoming the premier spot
for the best up and coming Djs in the city to come and feel some
love in an intimate setting on equipment that isnt janky. Genres be
damed. If it sounds good then its good. All we need are some people
unafraid to sweat and drink and laugh and have fun. My dream is to
bring in secret big name DJs without telling anyone. So keep an eye
out.
