Editors' Take

The new Academy of Sciences would be that much cooler if it weren't so expensive. Oh, wait, third Wednesdays are free! Pack your lunches, kiddies, we're going on a field trip.

The new Academy of Sciences sounds SO DOPE, with a digital planetarium, an aquarium, a natural history museum and a walk-in natural rainforest. BUT regular adult admission costs 25 bones. Bummer.

BUT WAIT. There are a few hidden free day gems, you just have to know where to find them. Score!

FREE DAYS AT THE ACADEMY:

*Every third Wednesday - always free.

*Certain weekends in Spring and Fall are free if you can prove that you live in a certain zipcode. Check their handy-dandy chart for your special free day!

Make note that the Academy is always busy. "Club Academy of Science" on Thursdays is no exception. It's a different learning experience with a cocktail in hand. That's one main difference, plus no strollers/kids. Of course, the DJ's music, and touring a museum at night! We bought tickets online for $10.

Oh yeah, the "gar" is a trippy, surreal fish from Texas, of all places.

What is the best thing to see at the Academy of Sciences? I'm planning a trip there soon and want to make sure I have enough time to check out the best part as Free Admission Days are probably extremely busy!
