Wow. Time is a trip. Here we are with a new President. I remember
when Barack Obama seemed like a passing fad. I also remember when
The People was just an idea being kicked around by a few DJs and
music heads that felt Oakland's renaissance needed a kick start.
And now here we are. This month, THE PEOPLE is 1 year old.
I would thank you, but it seems inappropriate. We built this thing
together. WE are THE PEOPLE. This party brings our crew
and our extended family so much joy every month. It’s hard to
sum it up in words. Visions arise of moving feet, raised
arms, sweat, beautiful smiles, hugs, laughing, munching...
If you need to get a little taste, check out these fly flicks taken by Azul 213 at last months throw down. Azul is including THE PEOPLE family in his "Peace in Iraq" photo petition.
This entire coming together is rooted in music. The music has been the guiding force and the binding thread. There are truly few music producers on Earth who exemplify the spirit of THE PEOPLE like DAZ-I-KUE. Daz's crews, the Bugz in the Attic are a massive testament to musical dedication beyond the boundaries of the billboard charts. The London scene from which he hails is a fertile ground the likes of which one might have found in New York's 1970's loft movement. And Daz has been leading the way with an instantly recognizable and sought after production style that has wrecked dance floors and melted headphones around the world. Just for kicks - Peep Daz's discography.
So, it is appropriate that we welcome Daz to the THE PEOPLE this month for our anniversary and at the same time we will be CELEBRATING DAZ's BIRTHDAY.
This promises to be one for the record books.
