Welcome to the Sixth Annual San Francisco Greek Film Festival, a gateway to the rich and vibrant culture of contemporary Greece through cinema.
The Festival will run from Monday, May 18 through Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the Delancey Street Screening Room and is sponsored by the Modern Greek Studies Foundation, the Center for Modern Greek Studies, and the Nikos azantzakis Chair at San Francisco State University.
The 2009 Greek Film Festival will showcase 9 feature length and 7 short films which have received acclaim in Greece and throughout the world. An opening night reception will take place on Monday, May 18 immediately following the films and tickets for that evening start at $35. On Friday, May 22, we will show a rare screening of the original version of Nikos Koundouros’ 1958 masterpiece “Oi Paranomoi” (The Outlaws) – which was banned due to government censorship and can finally be seen again at the cinema.
Tickets are $15 for each screening, $35 for opening night which
includes the Opening Night Reception, and $25 for the Saturday and
Sunday double features.
Subject to availability, tickets will be available at the door, and
discounts are available for students with a valid student ID.
Younger children may enjoy the first feature film
on Saturday, May 23 at 5:30pm “The Flea” for a
discounted rate. With the exception of the film “Oi
Panaromoi” - The Outlaws, all films will have English
subtitles.
