DETAILS: anonEvents, blasthaus, Golden Voice and Sunset Live, have joined forces to create the massive Spectrum Festival at the SF Regency Center. The event will feature a bevy of live bands, djs, performance artists and elaborate décor transforming the Regency Center into a multi-stage, multi-environment kaleidoscope of entertainment. A limited number of discount 2-day and single night passes will go on sale on Sunday, May 10 at 10am and there are several hard-ticket outlets where budget-conscious fans can avoid most surcharges.

 

Friday night’s program will feature Major Lazer, the brand-new collaboration by uber-producers Diplo & Switch, who will perform together in the Grand Ballroom with along with a live dance ensemble. The Grand Ballroom lineup also features local live-electronica quartet BLVD, and acid krunk producer Antennae and an opening disco set by Sleazemore. Jungle legends LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad will headline the Sutter Room dropping priceless dub-plates of their soulful, jazz-drenched blend of drum and bass. Joining them in the Sutter Room will be UK trip-hop legend DJ Vadim, and local heroes Kuze & MC Child. Also on Friday, the ornate Lodge stage will be hosted by Circus Metropolus, and feature an overwhelming attack of bands, djs, performance artists, and klowns, including Diego’s Umbrella, Foo Foo Ha!, Coop & Audi-Lew and Discofari.

 

On Saturday night, Spectrum goes till 4am, headlined by one of the hottest acts on the planet, French rock heroes Phoenix fresh off a national performance on Saturday Night Live. Berlin electro superstar Boys Noize, and Brooklyn indie-rock phenom Amazing Baby, will also perform in a Grand Ballroom hosted. On Saturday, the Sutter Room will feature the cream of the Bay Area’s electro, techno, and house dj scene, including KONTROL’s Nikola Baytala, Tweekin’s M3, technophile Mozaic, and Frisco Disco’s Richie Panic. Again on Saturday, the Lodge will be hosted by Circus Metropolus, but this time will feature Gooferman, Foo Foo Ha!, Coop & Audi-Lew and an extended closing set by funky breakbeat aficionado Motion Potion.
