We've been talking about doing this for years, but when LA's
DJ FNORD and
KJ KOLLIDER approached us with the idea of doing
MASHUP KARAOKE, we knew we could finally make our drunken concept into a reality!
As revolutionaries of the underground D.I.Y. karaoke scene, these
guys have been creating custom karaoke tracks and videos,
including mashups, for years now! So
starting at 11:30 PM -- right after Smash-Up Derby's set -- they'll turn the upstairs
lounge into
Bootie's first mashup karaoke bar!

11 PM: SMASH-UP DERBY presents a "Tribute to Michael Jackson"
We were as shocked as anyone by the news of Michael Jackson's death. As longtime fans of Jackson's work, SMASH-UP DERBY – Bootie's house mashup band – already have a couple MJ mashups in their repertoire. So this Saturday, they'll be playing a couple Michael Jackson mashups you know and love, and a brand-new one, as the band pays tribute to the late, great "King of Pop."
Smash-Up Derby's Adrian & Trixxie to appear on "America's Got Talent"
As some of you know,
SMASH-UP DERBY's singers,
Adrian and Trixxie, recently auditioned to appear on the #1 rated television show,
"America's Got Talent." The above photo was just posted to
NBC.com, which means they'll
most likely appear in an upcoming episode,
possibly this week! Due to licensing issues, they weren't allowed to sing a mashup as
originally planned, but you'll still see Adrian rockin' a Bootie
t-shirt! ("America's Got Talent" airs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at
9 PM on NBC).

Midnight Mashup Show: burlesque troupe THE CHEESE PUFFS
As the world's first and only Richard Cheese-inspired burlesque troupe, THE CHEESE PUFFS take Richard's twisted lounge band covers of popular rock and rap songs, and turns them into full-fledged burlesque performance pieces! So actually, this month it's more like the Midnight Cover Song Show, as the troupe performs to a swing band version of "Baby Got Back!"
Taking over the decks on the main floor at 1 AM, DJ FOX returns to Bootie to celebrate his birthday with a special mashup set! Come wish him a happy birthday by shaking your ass as he takes you dancing into the late night!
