"Hailing from Oran-El-Bahia in Northern Africa, DJ Pheeko Dubfunk
caught the muse of music at an early age. It was the works of
Aretha Franklin, Delegation, Alexander O’Neal that filled the
ears a budding DJ with funk, reggae and R&B. Growing up in one
of the more diverse cities in the world gave the young artist
numerous opportunities to enjoy and learn about various musical
styles. In France DJs have to be well versed in playing hip-hop,
funk, house and reggae, and Pheeko became very deft at blending
together diverse musical elements.
It was at college where Pheeko first got his name as a DJ with DJ
Cami by putting on events for his friends. Being he main attraction
behind the wheels of steel, Pheeko has performed at thousands of
parties on collegiate and club levels. Being an avid traveler to
European party destinations, Pheeko fell in love with house music
at spots like Ibiza and Benidorm.
At his first US home in West Palm Beach, Pheeko was further exposed
to house music and became a resident DJ at Club Bliss. He also
graced the decks at Florida’s hottest destination –
South Beach Miami.
After moving to San Francisco Pheeko had the chance to showcase his
talent in front of the American audience. By acquiring residencies
at premiere clubs like Ruby Skye, DNA Lounge,1015, Fluid, Rouge and
Duplex, and with esteemed promoters like Release and Mixed
Elements; Pheeko got the attention of the party crowd with silky
smooth, dub filled funky house. “Pheeko describes San
Francisco as the “Mecca of funky house,” and it was
this style of music that appealed to him and the party revelers at
the time.
Pheeko has shared the stage with the luminaries of San Francisco
and beyond, playing alongside names like Mark Farina, Miguel Migs,
Kaskade, Jay-J, Gadjo, David Harness, Ellen Ferrato, DJ
Cami,2K&RDJS(Africa),Frenchy le Freak, Dimitris Mykonos and
others."
