What could be better than helping those in need and having a great time doing it? The World Food Program Committee of San Francisco will have our second annual fund raising party at 111 Minna, which will take place on November 19th from 5-9 pm. Last year we raised approximately $10,000 and with a growing volunteer base, we hope to surpass that amount this year. However, we need help from the community in order to do this, so come out and show your support!
The Friends of the World Food Program is a US-based non-profit organization dedicated to building support for the World Food Program (WFP) and other hunger relief efforts. The WFP is considered to be one the most efficient humanitarian organizations in the world and is said to deliver at least 93 cents out of every dollar received directly to the field. Every year, WFP feeds an average of 90 million people, two-thirds of which are children, in 80 of the world's poorest countries.
The party's theme is “Celebrate locally, feed globally”. The San Francisco Bay Area is a wonderfully diverse place to live, and we plan to celebrate that by featuring donations from local businesses in our silent auction. In addition, this event will feature music and live entertainment, and $20 admission enters you in a raffle. We look forward to seeing you at 111 Minna! All of the proceeds for this event will go directly to the Friends of the World Food Program.
