(October 23, 2009 San Francisco, CA): Green Bash, LLC and Common Ground Magazine in partnership with The 8th Annual Green Festival are pleased to announce the formation of an exciting new alliance “Green Festival After Dark” bringing diverse night time entertainment programming to the festival. The 8th annual Green Festival will be held November 13th-15th at the Concourse pavilion in San Francisco . GreenBash in collaboration with Common Ground has secured the rights to produce a series of evening concerts throughout the Green Festival weekend kicking off Friday November 13th with the “Green Spirit Dance” to be held at 1015 Folsom , followed up by a Hamsa Lila reunion concert with special guest Airto Moreira at The Regency Grand on Saturday November 14th ( www.hamsalila.com) closing out with two shows on Sunday;   “The Pulse of Green” benefit at 1015 Folsom featuring Dead Prez, Speech (of Arrested Development) & The Evolve Culture” DJ dance party ( www.evolveculture.com) with a collection of top Bay Area DJ talent Random Rab, DJ Garth Sunday November 15th at Temple SF (all show info at www.greenbash.com)

 

The Festivities will launch on Friday The 13th at 1015 Folsom with the 3rd incarnation of The Green Spirit Dance in celebration of Common Ground’s 35th Anniversary— a spirited multi-dimensional event, with diverse offerings happening on various floors. The Main Dance room will feature a live band performance by the rapidly emerging Delhi 2 Dublin , a Vancouver based group that was hit on this summers west coast festival scene. Their hybrid sound and lively stage presence skillfully blends the upbeat energy Bollywood Dance with the musicality of Celtic folk creating an infectious vibe that electrifies the dance floor. Complementing Delhi 2 Dublin will be The Bay Area’s own Non Stop Bhangra. Imagine a scene from a Bollywood movie smack in the middle of a thumping nightclub---the swirling colors, the rhythm of pounding feet, and the relentless energy of brilliant beats. Non Stop Bhangra is a non-stop party, featuring dance lessons with the Dholrhythms dance troupe, followed by dance performances, live music sets, visuals, live painting, and DJs spinning an eclectic mix of Bhangra, hip hop, reggae, and electronica. The eclectic show will be artistically elevated by a rare appearance by the El Circo Performance Troupe , host of the legendary El Circo Burning Man theme camp shows that have stunned the playa year after year. The troupe performance will includes costumed performers, artists, live musicians and aerialists supported by World Class DJ’s David Starfire (Burning Man / Coachella / Harmony Festival) and Pleasure Maker: Afrolicious, who will bring on the groove laden world beats sure to heat up the dance floor late into the night. The sacred Kirtan music of Mukti & Friends will special guest Guara Vani and Jaya Lakshmi will enrich “Spirit” side of the event. They will be performing upstairs in the Spirit Tower and accompanied by dance movement and acro-yoga workshops. There will be a great selection of exhibitors and sponsors serving up healthy organic food and green sustainable business products.

 

Music For Change: In support of the events Green theme “Music For Change” the show will feature a special guest appearance by the up and coming European duo

The Green Children & Green Festival Co-Founder Kevin Danaher. The Green Children have partnered with Nobel Peace Prize recipient Professor Muhammad Yunus and Whole Foods Market and their Whole Planet Foundation in raising over $500,000 for global micro-finance programs. Their current single, “Hear Me Now” has received to date 89,686 hits on you tube, 100,000 video shares on Facebook and 202,612 plays on MySpace.
