I remember helping to form chapters of ACT UP and QUEER NATION... but the criticism turned inward once Clinton got into office. We were getting poised for a radical peoples movement after Bush took office.... Then... 9-11 and everyone shut up. The anti war movement was gaining steam with people and then, democrats were put into power promising change but only throwing pennies at minimum wage and we all seemed to be okay with it.

            You kinda can't blame Sam's Club conservatives when they tell us to go back to our Starbuck's, Apple Computers, and stop whining. It seems like they are right. We have no leadership to oppose leadership, we are equally excessive though we claim not to be. We piss on the world while it is burning and claim we are doing our part to fight the heat.

            I am tired of being handed stuff and told where my dedication should be and where the line of common sense is... But the the whole thing is like the story of a dog I once heard...

            There was a dog on a porch who was lying there moaning. All day he sat there and little sighs and whimpers would come from the dog. I asked the dogs owner " why does your dog cry like that?" and he said " There is a nail under him and it bothers him."               There’s Cynthia McKinney, Congresswoman from Georgia’s 11th District, candidate for President on the Green Party ticket.

              There’s Bob Barr, also from Georgia, a former Congressman from the 7th District, the Libertarian Party nominee for President.

              There’s Chuck Baldwin, pastor and radio talk show host, nominated by the Constitution Party.

              And, of course, there’s Ralph Nader, who chose to run, this year, as an Independent.

              If you vote for any one of these, people will say you’re throwing away your vote.

              Let them say it. They will be giving their votes to the corporate oligarchy.

              Vote your conscience. Vote your hopes, not your fears.

              You don’t want to walk out of that voting booth with a grimace on your face, after holding your nose and once again voting for the lesser of two evils.

              You want to walk out of there feeling good about yourself, holding your head high knowing that you exercised your first amendment rights—freedom of speech, and of the press and your right to freely assemble.

    He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

    In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

    Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our British brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us.     We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these united Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States, that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. — And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.
