Project Ahimsa

Project Ahimsa is an internationally-recognized non-profit dedicated to the empowerment of youth through music, with offices in San Francisco, CA, and Tampa, FL. Through its grants and instrument donations, Project Ahimsa provides music education to children in poor and under-served areas around the world, particularly those areas affected by violence. Project Ahimsa's goal is to promote non-violence, cultural exchange and the healing power of music so that the lives of at-risk and impoverished children may be improved. The word "ahimsa" means "non-violence" in Sanskrit.

Since its inception in 2001, Project Ahimsa has reached nearly 10,000 children around the globe through its music education grants and musical instrument donations.

Project Ahimsa hosts benefit events each year around the United States to raise funding for its music education grants. Artists such as the Black Eyed Peas, The Doors, Nitin Sawhney, MC Rai, JBoogie's Dubtronic Science, DJ Cheb i Sabbah, Karsh Kale, Bobby Friction, blacKMahal and MIDIval Punditz have all performed at Project Ahimsa events.

In the United States, Project Ahimsa supports children's music programs in California, Colorado and Florida. In India, Project Ahimsa supports programs in the states of Gujarat and Bengal. In Central and South America, Project Ahimsa supports programs in Guatemala, Nicaragua and Argentina.
