ABOUT RASA VITALIA, ETHNIC DANCE PERFORMER
Primal and Healing Dancer & Artist

About Me:
Rasa Vitalia is a California Bay Area-based professional dance artist with over a decade of experience in multiple world dance forms, mastering many aspects of both traditional and tribal fusion styles with equal parts talent and skill. Her mastery of sword balance, percussive cymbal rhythms, and dynamic movement has won her many admirers. She has performed as a solo artist to audiences in cities throughout the U.S., contributed her talents to several area troupes, and worked with an array of world-class, international musicians. Originally trained as a Brazilian samba dancer, this early experience has informed her unique and vibrant approach to belly dance. Rasa’s approach to belly dance is in essence improvisational, fluid, and expressive. Her artistry gives timeless form to the subtle truths of the heart. Rasa seeks to unite the spectator with the divine in Nature through her graceful movements, and give a brilliant and generous performance her audience won’t soon forget.

Rasa regularly performs at many celebrations, events, and venues throughout the San Francisco Bay Area as a solo artist.

Rasa performs in festivals, showcases, and with talented musicians in various cities, and she is in high demand for the artistry she brings to every celebration. Among festivals, she has presented at The Middle Eastern Treasures Concert: http://maryellendonald.com/ , as well as Rakkasah West & Rakkasah East: http://www.rakkasah.com.

Rasa’s current collaborative project is called MEDJOOL, a performance project featuring the Music & Dance of Anatolia & The Near East. This group of world music artists features: Rasa Vitalia (dance & zills), Mary Ellen Donald (doumbek, daff, & riqq), Salokhiddin Fakhriev (Uzbek doyra, dombek, & shakers), & Kevin Cloud (ney, yayli tambour & oud).
Medjool is available for performance events!

Rasa is an instructor of Belly Dance Basics and Samba+Belly Dance fusion, and teaches workshops and classes in dance studios within the San Francisco Bay Area, and throughout the U.S. on request. Her approach to dance instruction is the focus on the healing & primal qualities of dance. She cites various artists such as Jamila Salimpour, Suhalia Salimpour, Mary Ellen Donald, Philipe, Malia De Felice, and Dhyanis as generous instructors who have helped her polish her skills over the years.

Rasa Vitalia is certified under both the Classic method of Jamila Salimpour School of Belly Dance, and the current method of the Suhalia Salimpour School of Belly Dance: http://www.therealsuhaila.com/ . She is certified in CPR.

"Rasa," pronounced (RAH sa), in its entirety means "passion in the spirit" in many different cultures. In the ancient language of Sanskrit, "Rasa," means essence of life and emotion. The name "Vitalia" is Latin and IS derived from the word vitalis, which has the meaning 'vital, full of life '.
