HEY! I'm a promoter and I can say that shit happens that is out of your control then dealing with large events.

The production is always more difficult then the marketing... When shit hits the fan tyhe promoter can leave the consumer hanging or take a hit themselves. These promoters did the right thing and took the hit!!

A promoter can do nothing and keep your money OR do his or her best to make it right by offering a refund, a replacement line up, a new card or moving the date... In this case the promoters gave you a refund and FREE concert.... The promoters may have even lost money to "make things right" just take that into consideration before passing judgement.

    Peace & Blessings,
    Mike Hegazy

btw, would have been nice if the security guards who told us the fight was cancelled would have also known who the artist performing was...didn't want to wait around for 2 hours to find out, but definitely would have liked to see talib.

Apologies to all that were disappointed by the removal of the fight component. Was beyond the control of the organizers and a formal press release will be drafted explaining the circumstances.

We were able to make lemonade from lemons and the over 2000 people that attended the FREE event with Talib Kweli, BBoy battles, and more can attest to the success of the event.

i guess if i looked like you, john, i'd be pretty angry at the world too. unfortunately i don't think you have anyone but your parents and fast food to blame for that one.

and (fuck) reacting to a racist with gay-bashing? really? i'm glad the general population of this city isn't as uneducated and ignorant as the people on this website.

His first name in Arabic means "student" or "seeker"; his middle name in Swahili means "true".

As a marketing exec, I have to hope you learned a lesson. Do a better job promoting good fight events and spend less time focusing on "experience marketing" and tapping into some hip-hop subculture which isn't even representative of the fan base. Your best audience is the hard-core fan and maybe even the UFC fan. No need for Playboy girls, rappers and hip-hop dancers (how much money did you blow on these unnecessary costs?). The first signs that the promoters of this event were mismanaging things were the NUMEROUS TYPOS of fighter names on this site! Inexcusable. The second clue was the the lack of focus on the fighting and fighters themselves. FAIL! I'd love to see more successful MMA events here in SF (Gladiator Challenge?) but more focus is needed - focus on a quality card, focus on fighting, and focus on your target audience.

That is so freaking retarded. I was so ready to see some MMA action and now its a stupid Hip Hop concert. Down-grade.
